– Zero 123 Accounting named Emerging Firm of the Year
Xero Accounting practices and app partners across South Africa were celebrated at the annual Xero Awards. Hosted by Gary Turner, Xero UK & EMEA Managing Director and comedian Henry Paker in an online ceremony, the awards showcased the achievements of those supporting small businesses through one of the toughest years.
Nine South African finalists were selected in November last year to compete in three categories: Emerging Firm of the Year, Partner of the Year, and App Partner of the Year.
Digital accounting firm Zero 123 won the Emerging Firm of the Year award. This award celebrates businesses that are using cloud technology to drive change in the accounting industry. Colin Timmis, General Country Manager at Xero South Africa, said: “Despite the numerous challenges associated with creating a new business, this newly enabled brand has successfully differentiated their offering. Though 85% of Zero 123’s clients did not start on cloud systems, within three years, 70% of the firm’s accounting client base is now on Xero.”
Partner of the Year went to George-based firm, DoughGetters, a multifaceted digital accounting business that has shown impressive reach and growth since winning last year’s Emerging Firm of the Year award. Judges were impressed by the firm’s work with farming and agricultural communities and their support in implementing Xero Learn in higher education.
“Everybody at Xero is proud to be part of this industry and recognise the achievements of our outstanding accounting and app partners. Accountants have proven more important than ever in helping businesses weather the impact of Covid and adapt to new challenges,” Timmis concluded.
App Partner of the Year went to reporting app Syft Analytics. Since joining the Xero marketplace in 2018, Syft has continuously developed its product to serve its target market. To support businesses facing challenging economic conditions brought on by Covid-19, Syft made it easier to apply for financial assistance and government support schemes. The company used its technology and Xero integration to generate a “funding pack” for businesses at the touch of a button.
Syft’s global client footprint continues to expand rapidly, a clear indication that Xero’s single API allows South African app integrations to compete internationally.
