Every day there are tasks which need to be done for a small to medium enterprise to be successful. By doing these tasks daily you will be able to see where your business is and manage any potential crises before it gets out of hand. Here is a list of daily tasks which need to be done to keep you on track for your business:
Take a walk through your business
It is important to go on to the shop floor or walk through your factory to see what your employees are doing and if they need any assistance. You can use this opportunity to compliment them on a job well done or give them assistance where they need it.
Hold a group meeting with your team
Every morning it is a good idea to hold a meeting with your team to see where they are on projects and if there are any problems which have arisen. These meetings could also be held weekly depending on the needs of your business.
Check your bank balance
Your bank balance is the life blood of your company. By checking it every day you will be able to detect if there is any fraudulent or suspicious movement on your account. Furthermore, you will identify opportunities where you can save money, you will be able to regulate spending and you will be able to stay up to date on customer payments. In addition, it is important to always have a report of incoming and outgoing payments daily.
Communicate with clients
Spend ten minutes every morning checking your emails and replying to your customers. It is important to answer your customers timeously otherwise they will become agitated and annoyed. If you leave your emails, you will get more stressed out when you finally go to check them. By looking at your emails every day you can minimize the stress of having irate customers from a lack of communication.
Check the trends
Have you ever wondered why some people are more aware about what is happening in their industry? It is because they follow the trends daily. Try to not be caught in the Google rabbit hole of information but rather find a few important websites which give information about the trends in your business and follow them. You can even bookmark these websites or use a feed reader to get the last trends.
Keep an eye on your stock
It is important to look at your stock and see which products are low. This will help you to ensure there is no stock loss or to query why the stock difference is so vast. You can also change your marketing strategy if you see that some of your stock items are slow to move off the shelf.
Clean your desk
When you have finished your work for the day, it is a good idea to remove old food wrappers and papers from your desk. You can also file the papers which you have finished using. This can be done for your digital files too. This will make it easier for you to locate the information should you need it on a later date.
By following these eight items you will be well on your way to building a successful business with a positive culture.
