Meet the Absa Small Business Friday featured small business of the week – Network Configurations.
Established in 1995, Network Configurations (NETCONFIG) was a small IT support company, assisting businesses to implement IT networks and systems. Over the years they have grown to support their clients’ ever-changing needs and guide them on the journey of leveraging technology for their business gains. They have created three distinct business units to ensure end-to-end service delivery of technology and business solutions.
Growing from strength to strength, the road to success has been a long and arduous journey, not without setbacks and learning curves. Iain Emerson recalls a dark time for NETCONFIG when the focus was on growth and not the financial implications of it. But Iain never backed down from the challenge and focused on returning to the basics and rebuilding his company. He also worked on his personal business acumen and leadership skills. This led to a solid foundation for NETCONFIG to advance from.
The culture and lifestyle at NETCONFIG can be accredited to Iain’s empathy, fairness, and his ability to listen to and understand his employees. “I believe that it is the collective of our team that has enabled some of our greatest achievements to date, and my purpose is to share our vision with the rest of the world, while enabling our own individual team members to achieve personal success, not just in their work environments, but also in their daily lives.”
Iain Emerson is a visionary and he sees leading a team and organisation as a privilege. Even though there may be challenges in aligning and motivating team members and making tough decisions when required. The best part is to be able to drive the direction and future of the business that makes a difference to their client’s organizations and how they can also contribute to their communities in a positive way.
In the future, Network Configurations hopes to expand into other technology and enablement services such as technology productivity training for both end users and aspirational individuals who hope to build a career in IT.
Network Configurations received the highest accolade and were crowned the National Small Business Champions for 2022 at South African Small Business Awards.
