SDC named top skills development corporation

On Thursday, 14 November at the 2019 NSBC Gala Breakfast and South African Small Business Awards, the Skills Development Corporation (SDC) – an accredited learning institution specialising in Training and Learnership initiatives focused on the B-BBEE codes of good practice – was not only part of the Top 20 Small Businesses Awards but was also awarded the Top Skills Development Award in the Special Awards category.

By winning a spot in 2019 South African Top 20 Small Business Awards, the SDC was automatically entered into a special awards category along with other contenders like; Construction For Africa, Oracle Media, and Xero South Africa.

The NSBC is a powerful network of 127 000+ small to medium-sized businesses and these awards recognize the hard work and successes of small businesses and entrepreneurs in South Africa.

Daniel Gibhard, CEO at The Skills Development Corporation (SDC) says that since opening its doors in 2012, the SDC has been striving to fill the void left between skills development training and assisting businesses in meeting their B-BBEE requirements. ‘Due to the lack of quality training plus the evidence that suggested businesses were being exploited simply because they didn’t understand how skills development can be used to a company’s advantage, meant that we found a niche that specifically focused on the skills development element of the B-BBEE score card,’ says Gibhard. ‘By building a strategy and business growth plan surrounding this niche, we have managed to “be the difference” for not only our clients, but for our enthusiastic learners too which is testament to this award win.’

‘The NSBC is Africa’s leading SME organisation and the fastest growing organisation of its kind and we are honoured to receive this award,’ concludes Gibhard.
